Obituary

Walter Emerson Russell, 89, passed away August 12, 2021 in Olympia, WA. Born in Denison, TX, his parents later moved to Washington where he graduated from high school in Hoquiam. He then honorably served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Walter earned an Aeronautical Engineering degree from the University of Washington where he met his wife of 48 years, Beverly. He worked for Boeing for several years before earning his Master of Education degree from Western Washington University. Walter then primarily taught 4th grade for 24 years with the Enumclaw School District.

Walter was a long-time resident of Auburn and active community member. He was a member of the Auburn First United Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge. Walter was very dedicated to his family, always putting their interests and needs above his. He was also an avid golfer and skillfully built and flew model airplanes. He enjoyed sharing these interests over the years with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly, and his oldest son, John. Walter is survived by his son, Mark (Sherri); and his grandchildren, Brian (Shannon) and Kevin.

A graveside service was held August 19, 2021 at Mountain View Cemetery in Auburn.
