Harold Dean
Spence
March 29, 1929 – February 8, 2021
Harold D. Spence, beloved father and husband, passed away on February 8, 2021 at the age of 91 following a stroke.
Harold was born in Arkansas on March 29, 1929, the youngest of 10 siblings. He grew up in a large farming family during the great depression. An excellent marksman, he brought home many squirrels to feed the family growing up. He married his childhood sweetheart, Patsy Ruth Crook (Pat) in 1949.
Harold served in the Army during the Korean war. One of his many gifts was a mechanical mind. The army recognized this and enlisted Harold as a tank mechanic. In 1959, Harold and Pat settled in Auburn, where they raised three children. Harold retired from Boeing in 1991 after 32 years. He enjoyed his retirement years gardening, feeding birds and squirrels in the backyard, spoiling the cat named Buddy and spending time with family.
Harold is survived by his three children, Ronald Alan Spence (Ron) and Rebecca Susan Spence (Becky) of Auburn, and Randal Dean Spence (Randy) of New York City. Also grieving Harold's loss are Harold's brother-in-law Tom Crook of Auburn and his many nieces and nephews.
Harold will be buried next to Pat at Tahoma National Cemetery.
